Parish Activities

St Margaret Mary is an active parish – it doesn’t mean that all parishioners have to get involved into some ministry. You are always welcome however. The ministries are for the benefit of the parish – make use of them.

First Holy Communion

The group prepares children who are in Year 3 or above at school for the sacraments of Reconciliation (Confession) and Communion. The course consist of 15 lessons and we meet weekly in the Church in small groups of children. For further information, contact Suzanne Hogg via the Parish Office.

St Margaret Mary Stitchers

We meet every 3 weeks in the St Margaret Mary room between 1.30 and 3.30pm but, if we have a special project to do, more often. We do all the sewing for the church’s need. This includes such projects as making banners to hang in the church, making baptismal bibs, making altar server’s albs, Father’s vestments and altar linen. It is not necessary to be an expert at sewing in order to join; most of us are not.

Flower Arranging Group

The flower rota works out at about 3 times a year for most people. Some like to work on their own; others prefer to work in pairs. For Christmas and Easter and other special occasions, we have more helping out. We try to keep to a colour scheme suitable for the occasion. If anyone would like to offer some of their time in which to help out, or provide some greenery of flowers from their garden, it would be much appreciated.

Eucharistic Ministers

Distribute communion under both kinds at Sunday Mass, preside at Eucharistic Services, take communion to the sick, pray at Exposition to the Blessed Sacrament.
Eucharistic Ministers meet quarterly in the Church Hall. If you know anyone who would like communion at home, please contact Father John.
